No 141/2021), according to the Enakmen Undang-undang Keluarga Islam (Negeri Selangor) 2003, the definition of ‘anak dara’ or a virgin is a woman who has not had sexual intercourse, whether she is married or not. Therefore, hinging on this explanation, the use of a period management tool such as Suci Cup DOES NOT affect one’s virginity as no sexual act has been committed.You are still a virgin even if you use the Suci Cup. The method of using a period care product internally is simply a means to manage a woman’s period phase of her menstrual cycle.Just as cycling, horse riding or doing sports in general is not a sexual act, neither is the insertion of period care technology into the vaginal canal to collect period flow, in our opinion, a sexual act.Therefore, we believe that using a menstrual cup does not affect a woman’s virginity or purity. Instead, it provides a safe and sustainable way to manage period flow, a technology which each woman should have the right to choose for herself.
